Scallas Café has presented a return air ticket to South Africa to Malawi’s celebrated legend Giddes Chalamanda where he is expected to perform alongside Edgar and Davis aka Wazelekeza boys.
The club’s manager Emmanuel Tambulasi said they were honoured to contribute to the trip in recognition of Chalamanda’s achievements and standing in Malawian music.
Band leader Davis Njobvu confirmed in an interview that the 88-year-old will indeed make the trip having received an air ticket from managers of the popular club in Blantyre.
“We thank Tambulasi and the entire management of Scallas Café for the support rendered to Chalamanda,” Njobvu said.
Chalamanda and the duo are expected to fly out on Friday morning to hold shows from Friday evening to Sunday at various venues while other band members Davie Nthala, James Kuchilira, Grant Soko and Chifundo John left for South Africa by road on Wednesday morning.
