Ufulu Festival returns on Independence Day

Gwamba performs during last year's event

The annual Ufulu Festival by Flood Church returns to Civo Stadium in Lilongwe on July 6.

Ufulu seeks to celebrate culture, freedom and creativity on the day Malawi as a country celebrates its independence.

To achieve this, the festival will be free of charge to those attending, as has been the case in the past.

The festival will include main stage performances from key Malawian artists.

Also included will be community activities, stalls, games and a children’s area.

Ever since the festival was launched in 2014, it has experienced massive growth and great support from both the creative and corporate world.

For this year’s event, Flood Malawi has partnered with FDH bank to give festival goers an unforgettable experience.

Pastor Humphreys Mkandawire, festival organiser said: “This year the Ufulu Festival will be a free, family-friendly festival that will bring the best of Malawi’s creative industry.”

“It will be a space where people of all ages are welcome and can feel free and safe.”

“The festival will showcase the work of organizations serving in Malawi, inviting people to come alongside them! As well as amazing performances, the festival will offer an exciting children’s program.”

So far, a number of headliners have been officially announced with more to be revealed as we get closer to the event.

Some of the headliners are Faith Mussa, Suffix, Kelvin Sings and RJ the DJ.
