Malawi Police Service has arrested three people in Mzuzu for being found in possession of human bones.
The arrest was made on Wednesday in the northern city capital.
Northern Region Police spokesperson Peter Kaira told Kulinji.com in a telephone interview that issues to deal with human tissues, human remains, bones and people with albinism is being dealt with at national level and referred our reporter to Police national spokesperson James Kadadzera.
Kadadzera said he could not grant us an interview because investigations are underway.
He said they are questions that need to be answered pertaining to the issue some of which he alluded to as scientific testing of whether these are indeed human bones.
He said other questions that need to be answered during the investigations include establishing where the three suspects got the human remains.
Kadadzera was quick to point out that these are not human remains of a person with albinism, and the Police will be able to give the facts to the public regarding the assertion after the professionals testing the bones give them results.
