Mutharika dissolves cabinet ahead of polls


President Peter Mutharika has dissolved his cabinet effective as the country gear for Tuesday crucial election.

A statement signed by Chief Secretary to the government Lloyd Muhara says all cabinet members are requested to consult his office for appropriate administrative arrangements.

“Following the dissolution of cabinet and until the appointment of a new cabinet, all ministerial powers, functions and responsibilities shall vest in and be exercised by the President,” reads the statement.

The memo advises the public to direct queries to the Office of the President and Cabinet.

The development comes six days before the country goes to the polls.
