On-and-off Malawi national football team forward Atusaye Nyondo has joined an Ethiopian top premier league side Saint George Club on a year-long deal.
The team and the player’s agent Prince Jere confirmed about the deal involving Nyondo who has been clubless since he terminated his contract with South Africa’s National First Division side, Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM) early this year.
Through its Facebook page, the team posted a photo of Nyondo saying he is now one of them.
“Everything is done, it is a good deal that we facilitated as Touchline Sports Management Agency,” Jere said.
The former Chibavi Destroyers and Silver Strikers star went to South Africa and joined Carara Kicks before moving to SuperSport United, Pretoria University and Bloemfontein Celtic.
St George is one of the big and oldest teams in Ethiopia which uses Addis Ababa Stadium.
They finished as runners up in that country’s premier league in the 2017/2018 and 2012/2013 seasons.
They are also five times champions in the league consecutively from 2012 to 2017.
The team is currently fourth on the log table with 46 points from 29 games.
St George also played in the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions League in 2015.
