TNM Super League champions have budgeted about K20 million for the award gala for its players slated for March 29 at Comesa Hall in Blantyre.
Speaking during the press briefing at Nyasa Manufacturing Company office in Blantyre on Thursday, Bullets' chief executive officer Fleetwood Haiya said the initiative is aimed at appreciating the effort players put to ensure their teams do well in a season.
He said the awards will be presented to the best player of the season, best goalkeeper, best midfielder, best attacker and the most improved player in the last season.
“Our budget is between K15 million to K20 million. However, we are not doing this alone because we have other companies that have shown interest to partner with us. It will be difficult to disclose them now, but most of them have promised to shoulder with us the task of the material awards to the players. And this is also an opportunity to other corporate companies to come partner with us on the same,” Haiya said.
On the selection criteria for the outstanding players, Haiya said that has been left in the hands of Bullets supporters to vote for their preferred players in each category.
“Supporters should send a message to *477# and follow the instructions to get registered and be able to vote. We must say it however that supporters who are already registered will have their single entry regarded as five votes unlike those that will just be registering now. This is open to supporters using both Airtel and TNM numbers,” Haiya explained.
Bullets administration manager Albert Chigoga said they have planned to have the gala an annual event hence the need for more partners.
“The event is to award all our players including the reserve and Under 20 teams. Initially we wanted to have separate events for the teams but later decided it should be one event,” Chigoga said.
