Malawi National Football teams will benefit from the three-year partnership between Football Association of Malawi (FAM) and Rab Processors struck on Tuesday at Chiwembe Technical Centre in Blantyre.
The partnership will see Rab supplying 33,000 bottles of Vital water to the national teams annually valued at K7 million.
Speaking during the ceremony, Rab Chief Executive Officer, Ahmed Sunka said they decided to support the Flames as a way of helping to revitalise the teams.
“Not so long ago we ventured into football sponsorship when we unveiled K14 million for the Southern Region Football League through our Thumb Up juice. This time we thought we should come back to support the Flames so that the association should not be worrying about water expenses. Let them concentrate on other things as we shoulder with them the burden of buying water for the teams,” Sunka said.
FAM president Walter Nyamilandu said they appreciate the support and said it will also help boost the teams’ performance.
“This partnership just cements the relationship which exists between us and Rab. For us we do not mind the amount of money, but the assistance at hand. Players sweat a lot when training and during games which can lead them to suffer from dehydration. My message to the teams is to fight hard so that the Vital brand is associated with the winning teams,” Nyamilandu said.
The Malawi Under 23 national football team hosts Zambia in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on March 20, before a return leg in Zambia four days later, while the senior Flames travel to Morocco a week later.
