Super League golden-boot race heats up

Babatunde Adepoju, Khuda Muyaba

It seems Khuda Muyaba’s challenge to Babatunde Adepoju for the golden-boot win is slowly materialising as the two are now separated by a goal in the TNM Super League.

Be Forward Wanderers’ Adepoju still leads the list of scorers with 14 goals.

Muyaba, the Silver Strikers forward issued a challenge in August when he reached 10 goals, while Adepoju was at 10.

The Nomad’s forward accepted the challenge as he indicated that he was also eyeing the top finish being his first time and was ready to defend it.

On Saturday, Muyaba scored a hat trick against Karonga United that pushed him to 13 goals, while Adepoju has played six games without scoring.

The last time he scored was through a penalty when Wanderers were hosted by Kamuzu Barracks in their 1-0 win at Civo Stadium on August 31.

While the two are in for their challenge, they also have to be mindful of Nyasa Big Bullets’ Hassan Kajoke who is also closing in on the race.

Karonga United, Chitipa United and Mzuni have been lucky to be awarded three goals from the table after their opponents boycotted the games.
