All is set for this year's Africa Fashion in Motion show scheduled to take place on 26 November at Glalle Garden opposite Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe, organizers have said.
Shalex Organization founder Shadrack Ndonda said the event is a platform that brings together artists and people of different backgrounds and nationalities to celebrate diversity in the fashion industry.
"We want to expose our handcrafts to different people to appreciate our hand creations. There is a lot of youths that have talents but they are locked because the don't have support or opportunities. Shalex is there to give them a chance to perform at this fashion event," he said.
Merve Designs founder, Mervis Grace Makulusa said she was excited and thrilled to showcase her products at the event.
"This is a good platform for exposure and marketing. I urge people to come and support us," said the Lilongwe based designer.
One of the models, 20 year old Victoria Michongwe also expressed excitement to being part of this year's Shalex Fashion Show.
"This will be my second time to walk for Shalex Fashion Show and I can’t wait to see the designs from other designers as well. I am looking forward to more of these events as they will help our Fashion and modeling industry in Malawi. I am also looking forward to how I will grow and learn a lot from other models and designers from different nationalities," she said.
Other designers billed to showcase at the event are House of Doxa, Stitch angel designs, MG APPAREL, MerVE✂️Designs and Qin Dee.
The last Shalex Africa Fashion in Motion event took place in 2021.
