National Planning Commission (NPC) has launched programme to popularise Malawi 2063.
The programme announced intergenerational development champions which has seen the arts and entertainment sector being included.
The development has excited artists who have been the first to be mentioned and recognised for their contributions.
The first batch of artists includes Piksy and Lulu.
Piksy, popular with his moniker 'Chimfana Chodziwika ndi Boma' has championed different progressive campaigns and is a role model for the youth in development.
He expressed his gratitude towards the recognition as an influencer using his craft.
"I'm humbled," he said adding that he will dedicate himself to national interests.
Piksy is also the creator of the Malawi 2063 theme song which the NPC uses.
Lulu speaking on his recognition said this is a sign that creatives are considered important.
"We can work together with the system," Lulu said.
Pemphero Mphande, socialite, social media influencer and writer had also been indicted into the inter-generational development champions list.
NPC Spokesperson, Thom Khanje said they recognise the creative industry has potential to boost create jobs and generate wealth for Malawians, most of whom are the young adults.
Khanje added these influencer also play a big role in preserving culture.
