Nyasa Big Bullets forward Babatunde Adepoju has a new challenger in the chase for the TNM Super League goldenboot award in Chawanangwa Kaonga from Silver Strikers.
Kaonga has been instrumental in the victories registered by the Bankers, while stretching his scoring record to match with Adepoju at 11 goals.
By last week, Kaonga had scored nine times until the weekend when he added two more in Silver Strikers’ 3-1 away win against TN Stars on Sunday.
Adepoju has been unable to extend his lead since Bullets have been off the league games for some weeks due to national team engagements and their CAF Champions League assignments.
Right behind the two is Muhammad Sulumba of Mighty Mukuru Wanderers.
Sulumba could not add more to his scoring sheet over the weekend while his team came from behind to force a two-all draw against Dedza Dynamos.
Moyale’s Raphael Phiri’s lone goal in the match against Sable Farming on Sunday took him to eight goals at par with his fellow military stars Mphatso Filimoni of Mafco and Royal Bokosi of Red Lions.
Charles Chipala and Promise Kamwendo from Dedza Dynamos, Rumphi United’s Trouble Kajani, Patrick Mwaungulu of Bullets), Stain Davie form Silver Strikers, Mafco’s Peter Kasonga and Zeliat Nkhoma of Kamuzu Barracks have managed to send the ball behind the nets seven times.
Clement Nyondo scored against Wanderers in the two-all draw to take his tally to six goals alongside George Chaomba of Tigers FC and Bullets’ Precious Sambani.
At five goals there is Hassan Kajoke and Chimwemwe Idana of Bullets, China Chirwa from TN Stars, Moyale’s Lloyd Njaliwa, Schumacher Kuwali of Blue Eagles, Chiukepo Msowoya of Wanderers and Zikani Sichinga from Mafco.
