If apprehended, he should face the long arm of the law
The Malawi government has called for patience and restraint from the public as it handles the issue of Chinese national Lu Ke who is accused of exploiting the country’s children and was exposed through a video which went viral on social media.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Nancy Tembo who said this on the sidelines of Juneteenth; the American holiday which commemorates the end of enslavement of Black Americans in America in 1865, indicated that the Ministry of Homeland Security and the Police are investigating the matter.
She further disclosed that the People’s Republic of China (PRC) government reached out to Malawi and expressed regret and sorrow over the unfortunate incident.
“We have engaged with the Chinese Embassy; actually they have engaged with us and they have expressed their disgust and sorrow that one of their own can do something like this and they’ll also help us to investigate and once they apprehend the individual, they’ll hold them to account because they do not want the Chinese name smeared in the manner that it has been smeared.
“I want to plead for restraint, let’s move on; we should not condone this, but we should not act in a manner that then makes us be at the same level with this individual. We condemn it in the strongest term and if he is apprehended, he should face the long arm of the law but let’s move on. We have many challenges in this country that together we need to address,” appealed the Minister.
Tembo acknowledged there will always be bad apples in every society hence its’ not proper to paint every Chinese with one brush that they are bad people.
However latest information indicates that Lu Ke known as Shu Shu exposed for exploiting children in Njewa area has not been to the community since Friday last week.
