Floods hit Mzuzu City

Mzuzu University student destitute

Wednesday rains in Mzuzu triggered flooding in several parts of the city which included St Augustine, Salisbury Lines, Chibanja, Viyele and some parts of Chibavi rendering some households destitute.

Off-campus students at Mzuzu University (MZUNI) have also suffered from the floods as most of their properties like laptops and foodstuffs have been soaked in water.

Some residents in the city have raised fears that the floods might contribute to spread of cholera as some of the toilets are half submerged in water.

Malawi News Agency photojournalists, Patrick Ng’ambi and Walughano Lumbira captured some of the site affected on camera.
