Malawians have breathed a sigh of relief following news of the continuance of Airtel Malawi's MoFaya and TNM Pamtsetse bundles.
Three months ago, the two telecommunications companies introduced the cheaper, unlimited data bundles after an outcry and a #datamustfallcampaign.
The bundles excited most Malawian Internet users who expressed anger that the companies had been swindling them as they posted huge profits.
The public got annoyed after officials from the two service providers announced that both Pamtsemtse and MoFaya data bundles were all on a three month promotion and would be scrapped off.
TNM clarified they were on trial basis and the outcome of how people were using them would determine whether they are to continue with them or not.
Marketing Director for Airtel, Thokozani Kamkondo-Sande said the promotion period for the bundles, which were supposed to end June 1st has been extended to a later date.
Head of Brand and Marketing for TNM Madalitso Jonaz said the Pamtsetse Bundle, which was also introduced on promotion basis, will continue and any changes will be communicated if the company sees fit.

Reacting to the news, Malawians have expressed delight with the network providers extention.
Andsen Banda said: "Let me thank my fellow citizens for advocating of low data charges and the responsible Mr Kazako for taking this up with the two companies.
"More importantly the two companies reacted by bringing these two data charging systems that have been helpful to us.Thank you both TNM and airtel, keep it up the good initiative we are really enjoying."
"The best thing Malawian consumers are enjoying at present, Pamtsetse & MoFaya bundles. Everything else is soul, please extend this service even longer or make them permanent.
While we are crying of 25% devaluation plus many more at least we get comforted by browsing on the net at affordable cost, learning something new to keep us going," Hildagard Hilda said.
