Malawi national football team forward, Peter Banda had a good start to the Tanzania’s Premier League season as his team, Simba SC defeated Geita Gold 3-0 at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium on Wednesday.
The Tanzania’s giant missed the league last season after finishing second to Young Africans with 13 points behind.
Perhaps the reason was because they concentrated on the CAF Confederations Cup assignments where they bowed out in the quarterfinals.
Banda made the starting 11, but was replaced later and did not find the back of the net.
Simba netted the first in the 37th minute through Augustine Okrah’s freekick following a foul on Clayous Chama.
Chama gave Moses Phiri an assist to score the second in the 61st minute.
After all the attempts, time came for Chama to score his own from the spot following a foul on Okrah in the 81st minute.
Simba now tops the table with three points, followed by Mbeya City, Azam FC, Young Africans, Coastal Union, Ruvu Shooting, and Singida BS in that order, with three points apiece.
