The country’s Vice President, Saulos Chilima will grace the Malawi national football team fundraising golf tournament at Lilongwe Golf Club next month.
The Flames Resource Mobilization Taskforce has organized the tournament to help source funds for the team as it prepares to participate in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Tulipo Mwenelupembe, the committee’s spokesperson told FAM Media that they targeting over 100 golfers to participate.
“The golfers will play in a team of two sponsored by corporates or individuals at a sponsorship fee of MK300, 000 per team. We are also engaging various corporates to partner us by buying some of our sponsorship packages,” Mwenelupembe was quoted on FAM website.
The Golf Tournament is dubbed ‘Kuyipatsa Moto Flames Fundraising’.
“The ‘Kuyipatsa Moto Flames Fundraising VVIP Golf tournament’ will be the first ever fundraising golf tournament in Malawi to be broadcast live on national TV. The partnership between us, the football fraternity, and the golfing fraternity has shown that through collaboration we can achieve great things,” he said.
FAM’s Vice President Justice Jabbar Alide is leading the committee.
