The Malawi Senior National Netball Team coach, Peace Chawinga has named a 15-member squad to travel to Cape Town, South Africa for the Tri Nations Netball Testing games.

The team is expected to leave today on Thursday through Chileka International Airport for the tournament which also involves the hosts and England.

According to the statement by Netball Association of Malawi (NAM) president Abigail Sharrif, the games are part of the Queen's preparation for the Commonwealth games in July.

"They will arrive in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia at 21:00. The Queens will connect to Cape Town on 24th June, 2022 at 08:15 and expected to arrive at 13:35. The long route is due to flight connection challenges from the possible shorter route of ORT international Airport to Cape Town," Sharrif said.

The full list of the squad include Shooters Joyce Mvula, Tendai Masamba, Sindi Simtowe, and Jane Chimaliro, while Mid court are Takondwa Lwazi, Bridget Kumwenda, Thandi Galeta, and Shirah Dimba.

Chawinga-Kaluwa also picked four defenders, Towera Vinkhumbo, captain Carol Mtukule, Martha Dambo, and Laureen Ngwira.

Three players have been picked as reserves and they are Maggie Sikwese, Beauty Basiwo, and Madalitso Mkandawire.

The Queens will play three games starting with the hosts on Monday, June 27, then the next day England, before facing South Africa again on Saturday July 2.

About a week ago, the Malawi team hosted Zimbabwe and Namibia in the Cosana Tri-Nations tournament where they triumphed as champions.
