The second edition of Malawi Film Festival is slated for 24-25 November 2023 in Lilongwe.
Film Association of Malawi (Fama) president Gift 'Sukez' Sukali has called on Malawian producers to start submitting films for the event.

The two day festival will run under the theme 'unveiling untold stories of mother Malawi'.
"Time has come for Malawian film makers to start telling stories of their own country rather than waiting for foreigners to make films about Malawi," Sukez said.
Speaking on some of the initiatives Fama has put up before the event, Sukez said the association will conduct trainings with filmakers in Mzuzu, Lilongwe and Blantyre.
The trainings are aimed at equiping filmmakers with knowledge and skills that will enable them produce quality films for the festival.

Chief Arts Officer responsible for Development and Promotion at the Ministry of Local Government, Unity and Culture, Qipase Maulidi, said the film industry can contribute to the nations growth.
Maulidi explained that if well nurtured the movie industry in Malawi has the potential to be an agent of social economic development.
