Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has resolved it's Leader of Opposition wrangles.
DPP Presidential spokesperson, Shadric Namalomba in a statement confirmed the development.
Namalomba said Nankhumwa will represent DPP as LoP until fresh elections involving all DPP Members of Parliament.
The Spokesperson quoted DPP Director of Legal Affairs Charles Mhango as saying the party leadership will advise on the date and venue of the election.
“DPP offered to withdraw the name of Dr Chaponda as Leader of Opposition until we hold fresh elections for the Leader of Opposition.
"We asked the Court to direct as to the period within which to hold the fresh election, but the Claimants refused to involve the Court in internal party affairs.
"So we left it to the party to decide when to hold fresh elections for the Leader of Opposition."
The situation arose when it was reported, Mulanje Central Parliamentarian, Kondwani Nankhumwa appointed himself without party consultation.
Following this, DPP president, Peter Mutharika backed Mulanje South West MP George Chaponda.
The two camps, fought in court but the court ordered they talk it out.
The talks were mediated by Judge Kenyatta Nyirenda at the High Court in Lilongwe on Friday.
